UCBC’s Surgical Oncology team is committed to multidisciplinary care for cancer treatment. Dr. James Griffin is a double board-certified surgical oncologist and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgeon specializing in cancers of the pancreas, liver, biliary tree/gallbladder, stomach, small intestine, and skin. He joined UCBC in May 2023 as the Director of Surgical Oncology and HPB Surgery and has been in practice locally since 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Specialty Services. He established the first comprehensive surgical oncology program in Northeast Georgia and aims to provide Athens and the surrounding communities with the same level of advanced surgical oncology care previously only available at major academic centers.
