Susie Phelps initially started her career in business after graduating from the University of Georgia, Terry College, working in new home construction, including active adult lifestyle neighborhoods in Metro Atlanta and eventually Lake Oconee. Then her passion for health care led her back to school to pursue a master’s degree in nursing at the Athens campus of Augusta University. She began her nursing experience in cardiology with Piedmont Athens Regional, building a strong foundation in patient care, including hospital, procedural, and outpatient settings, including a patient navigator role. Following completion of South University’s NP program, she spent several years in gastroenterology before transitioning to radiation oncology. She enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and three children, who are active in travel sports and advanced chorus.
