Heather Wheatley, certified nurse practitioner, recently joined UCBC. Heather was born and raised in Wilkes County. She is a graduate of the Medical College in Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2004 and spent close to four years working in the Medical/Surgical/Neurological intensive care units at Athens Regional Hospital. In 2007, she returned to school to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing and became certified as a nurse practitioner from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she has been employed and worked alongside Dr. Cody Gunn. Her career has evolved from care of all general surgery patients to now a focus on all aspects of breast care, specifically those patients at an increased lifetime risk for breast cancer.
