Athens, GA – May 2, 2022 – University Cancer & Blood Center (UCBC), a leading oncology and hematology practice for Northeast Georgia, is announcing the groundbreaking of the newest, state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer center in Athens, GA.

For over four decades, UCBC has been an independent community oncology practice with a reputation for cutting-edge and innovative cancer treatment and research. UCBC provides individualized, holistic cancer care to residents across Northeast Georgia and beyond. As UCBC has grown, so has the patient population and the demand to expand cancer service lines. UCBC’s brand new state-of-the-art cancer center will advance cancer care for patients throughout the region and the entire Southeast.

The 81,500-square-foot facility will allow UCBC to offer all services available, including medical and radiation oncology, in one convenient location, helping the dozens of patients that rely on both forms of treatment. Other services will include a retail pharmacy, imaging center, clinical trials, supportive care, in-house labs, private infusion spaces, and an expanded Theranostics program. Additionally, the facility will feature more private treatment rooms.

“UCBC’s brand new state-of-the-art cancer center, the first in the region, will significantly impact our community. It will create a one-stop destination to provide comprehensive care with compassion, world-class expertise, and cutting-edge research. It is an immensely valuable and much-needed enhancement to healthcare in our community,” said Dr. Petros Nikolinakos, Managing Partner and Director of Clinical Research at UCBC.

The new industry-leading facility will be completed with the help of UCBC’s partners, including MPA Developments, Brasfield & Gorrie, OneOncology, Davis Stokes Collaborative and Pittman Engineering. UCBC is proud to work with these organizations to bring the next generation of cancer care to Athens, Northeast Georgia, and beyond.
