Our Comprehensive Cancer Center

Holding hands

A cancer diagnosis is one of the most overwhelming challenges anyone could face. While we know there’s no way to alleviate your fears altogether, it is our intent at University Blood and Cancer Center that a comprehensive approach to care will minimize some of the stress and challenges that come with treatment. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from our new, fully integrated Comprehensive Care Center.

Comprehensive Cancer Services, All in One Place

Cancer treatment can be demanding. Oftentimes, it involves multiple activities including imaging appointments, laboratory services, meeting with several doctors, and receiving the treatments themselves. Having to go to and from appointments at separate facilities can add an extra layer of complexity, which doesn’t help when you’re not feeling your best.

At UCBC, our goal is to minimize any hassles to the greatest possible degree, so that you can focus solely on your health. For this reason, our state-of-the-art Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a number of convenient in-house services, including:

  • Medical and radiation oncology
  • Private infusion spaces
  • Laboratory services
  • CT imaging
  • Molecular testing
  • Flow cytometry
  • Psychological counseling
  • Genetic counseling
  • Primary care
  • Gastroenterology

By providing all of these services in one facility, we aim to take away the complicated back-and-forth that cancer care can often involve. We also have a surgical oncology team, a full-service pharmacy, and an acute care clinic for patients requiring immediate assistance with side effects or symptom management. This way, you can sidestep inconvenience and long waits while still receiving prompt, top-notch care.

University Blood and Cancer Center also offers theranostics, a groundbreaking, personalized approach to treatment that uses PET scan images to precisely target and destroy tumors in certain types of cancer. Ours is the first cancer center in Georgia to offer this treatment outside of a hospital setting.

Caring for the Whole Person

Even when you’re fighting cancer, your other healthcare needs don’t immediately disappear. We believe that you should have access to convenient care to address your health even beyond your cancer diagnosis, and that continuing to prioritize your wellness while receiving treatment can help to promote successful outcomes.

To that end, our integrative care model couples oncology with primary care to support your wellness through treatment and beyond. We formed University Health Alliance to facilitate a direct partnership among primary care providers and oncologists, and ensure collaboration among both branches of medicine. With this integrative approach, you’ll receive ongoing holistic care to address any preexisting health issues, or any concerns that may arise during treatment, as well as personalized recommendations for diet, exercise, and mental health.

For the past decade the Live Well program has also emphasized healing at all levels through resources and services that support your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Here, you’ll find services like massage therapy, acupuncture, mindfulness counseling, and music therapy — all led by specialists and licensed clinical social workers.

When these services all come together, they create a care model that emphasizes the whole patient and not just the disease. With them, you can rest assured that you’ll have the best cancer specialists on your side through every step. From our world-class surgeons and physicians, to our cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials, our team offers leading treatments alongside with a compassionate touch.
