University Cancer and Blood Center, a leading oncology and hematology practice for Northeast Georgia, welcomes Dr. Cody Gunn, an acclaimed board-certified general surgeon. Dr. Gunn’s primary focus is surgery of the breast treating both breast cancer and benign diseases of the breast. Patients in need of breast cancer treatment and prevention can choose UCBC‘s Comprehensive Breast Health Program with confidence.

“My dream for 30 years has been to take care of my patients with a truly comprehensive approach to breast cancer care,” says Dr. Gunn. “To be able to work alongside UCBC’s medical and radiation oncologists as a part of one team is great for patient care. I believe our comprehensive, personalized care will have a significant positive impact on patient outcomes as well.”

In 2015, Dr. Gunn formed the High Risk Breast Cancer Program, which was the first program of its kind in Northeast Georgia. The program combines advanced technology with expert clinical assessment and more intensive screening for earlier detection of breast cancer in high risk women.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Gunn join UCBC, and play a pivotal role in our breast cancer treatment and prevention offerings,” says Dr. Petros Nikolinakos, managing partner. “With Dr. Gunn’s commitment to providing quality care and excellence to his patients, we are confident that we will continue to make a difference.”

In addition to serving on numerous committees and boards throughout his career, Dr. Gunn has been the chairman of the Breast Center Physicians Advisory Board, Breast Center Committee, Surgical Case Review Committee, and Medical Quality Committee.

Dr. Gunn is now seeing patients at UCBC’s North Chase Street location (658 N. Chase St., Suite 201, Athens). His breast cancer-related services include examinations, biopsies, surgeries, breast reconstruction, breast conservation therapy, breast cancer prevention, and treatment for benign conditions.
