University Cancer & Blood Center

The physicians and staff of University Cancer & Blood Center are committed to the best possible outcome for every patient who walks through our doors. We understand that cancer isn’t just physical. Healing takes place at many levels. We believe in integrative care to treat the whole person. University Cancer & Blood Center patients have access to many integrative therapies that include emotional care, stress management, nutrition counseling, music therapy, massage therapy, and palliative care if therapy ceases to work. We know that to heal is to make whole. And healing is one of the things we do best.

Psychotherapy

Our licensed clinical social worker offers individual, couples, and family counseling in a safe, caring environment to assist with coping, problem-solving, managing uncertainty, issues related to sexuality and intimacy, survivorship concerns, end of life care, and bereavement support.

Mindfulness Counseling

UCBC refers patients to qualified professionals who offer mindfulness-based counseling for individuals, couples and families. Risk Assessment

Our oncology social workers provide counseling and education to assist patients in determining whether they are at risk for hereditary cancers, including hereditary breast, ovarian, colon, and other related cancers. Genetic testing for hereditary cancers is available.

Medical Nutrition Therapy

UCBC refers patients to licensed and registered dieticians who provide nutritional counseling and support. These qualified professionals obtain specialty certifications in oncology nutrition and weight management.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy offers benefits of relaxation and healing through safe and effective techniques for cancer patients and caregivers. UCBC refers patients to affordable massage therapy services for patients and caregivers.

Music Therapy

UCBC works with community partners to offer professional music therapy to individuals and groups through referrals, including state of the art BETAR therapy, for a unique healing opportunity.
